I can't stop making Omarchy plugins

20 August 2026

Omarchy Quattro is out, the new major version of Omarchy, and it comes with a plugin system. Writing your own is super easy. That turned out to be a dangerous thing to hand me. :-)

The first one took five minutes, couple of prompts with my friend Claude. So I wrote a widget that puts a name next to your workspace: invoicing, bug #4412, reading. After that I couldn’t stop.

The ones that are on GitHub, most starred first:

  1. time-machine: backups that run every night (105 stars)
  2. tesla: where the car is (73 stars)
  3. notification-center: every notification you were sent (56 stars)
  4. herdr: which coding agent needs you (46 stars)
  5. workspace-name: names and icons for your workspaces (24 stars)
  6. unifi-protect: my UniFi cameras in a panel (17 stars)
  7. downloads: the file you just downloaded (13 stars)
  8. omasweeper: Minesweeper (10 stars)
  9. text-transform: your clipboard, rewritten (10 stars)
  10. gmail-inbox: unread count in the bar (9 stars)
  11. meetings: my week, and the way into the next call (9 stars)
  12. github-build-monitor: whether main is green right now (8 stars)
  13. nag: disposable alarms you type in one line (7 stars)
  14. omableep: the sounds your computer used to make (5 stars)
  15. screen-time: screen time for kids, in two flavours (4 stars)
  16. bambu-lab: the status of my 3D printer (3 stars)
  17. stripe-mrr: your recurring revenue in the bar (2 stars)
  18. clippy: the paperclip is back, with tips from the Omarchy manual and news from your agent (new)

DHH quoted five of them, which was an interesting couple of weeks for my notifications and followers on X. I went past five thousand followers, and I’m close to seven thousand now. Never thought that this could happen so fast.

DHH quoting my calendar widget: "If you can think of it, Omarchy can make it happen." DHH quoting my UniFi Protect widget: "I need this but for Google Home!" DHH quoting Omasweeper: "Honoring the greats before us is good for the heart." DHH quoting time-machine: "If you want to stay in touch with what's possible using Omarchy plugins, you should follow Jankees." DHH quoting the Tesla widget: "Is there anything Jankees can't build as an Omarchy plugin!?"

Sixteen of them are in the Omarchy plugin directory now, which is the easiest way to install one:

screen-time and clippy are still in review, so those two are GitHub for now.
