A few weeks back I read an article about cowboy coding, I want to share it with you because it is amusing and because its quite a good idea.
So first of all, what is cowboy coding?
“Cowboy coding” is the phrase used to describe the practice of changing code directly on production servers.
Babcock & Jenkins a company from California wrote an article that if there is someone from their development department coding on a production server he should wear a pink sombrero so people can see what he is doing.. It’s not only to point to someone that is doing something wrong but it also leads to good discussions as they say.. “What are you doing? Why are you doing this? Does this have any other consequences?”
